The education minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong, revealed in an earlier interview that it might take around four to five years before the pandemic will end.

Despite this pronouncement, it’s still important for us to keep ourselves healthy until everything goes back to normal. Keeping yourself healthy takes more than just getting your daily dose of vitamins and minerals and staying home. Here are some things you can do to keep yourself healthy during the pandemic.

Kick the Habit

If you’re serious about keeping yourself healthy, then you should kick the habit before you kick the bucket. For instance, if you’re a smoker, you should cut back on the vice and, if possible, stop the habit altogether.

Smoking only causes harm to your body, and if you contract Covid-19, you’ll have a bigger risk of experiencing a severe case of the virus. Exercise always goes hand in hand with a healthy diet. So, it’s important to maintain a healthy diet during the pandemic. Even as restaurants have started to accept dine-in patrons, you can eat at home to ensure you can control what you’ll eat.

If you’re planning to change your diet, you shouldn’t make it drastic. Instead, take it slowly to allow your body to adjust. You can start by looking at your pantry and make a weekly meal plan with a balanced diet in mind. The meals should have the right amount of carbohydrates, proteins, and dairy products. Fruits and vegetables should also be included, along with healthy fats.

You should also avoid canned food with too much sugar content per serving. Similarly, the salt content of the food you’ll consume should also be at a suitable level. The level will depend on your age and current health condition. So, you should consult your doctor about this.

Rest and Remain Hydrated

Rest and proper hydration are also essential to keep yourself healthy in the middle of the pandemic. The situation is quite stressful, so you should try to get as much rest as you can to keep the stress away. You can avoid thinking too much about the pandemic and focus on your job and daily exercise to remove some of the anxiety you’re feeling because of the situation.

It is also important to remain hydrated. This is particularly true if you exercise every day. Always have a bottle of water handy during your workouts so you’ll get to drink water whenever necessary. Water consumption also helps keep your body healthy and help it fight against infections. Additionally, water helps keep your body functioning properly.

Wash Hands

Health officials worldwide agree that one of the best ways to keep the coronavirus at bay is to wash your hands regularly and properly. It’s advisable to have a bar of soap handy whenever you go out so you’ll always have something to use to wash your hands. If soap and water aren’t available, you can also use an alcohol-based sanitizer to keep your hands clean.
